Gwynfryn Evans
After complaining my research about the local men from Swansea and surrounding areas who were killed in the First World War. Those men who served in all military services – Army, Royal Navy, Mercantile Marine and Royal Flying Corps and later Royal Air Force, 1918. The dates that OI have covered is August 1914 to 31st August 1921
This research work can be found in the local library
Following this, I have completed the Second World War
research work, but I haven’t yet given it to the library. The dates which are covered is September 1939
to December 1947.
With the recent release of the 1921 Census, further research
can be carried out an individual as to where he was at this time, also the 1939
Register.
This has proven the case with a soldier who is buried locally
to me. At the time of writing, Surrey –
Windsor Cemetery, Berkshire.
The outbreak of the Second World War, we know was the 3rd
September 1939. Gwynfryn Evans, was dead
by the 8th.
Further questions as to why would someone in the UK, die so
early on the conflict?
His headstone apart from the required information didn’t give
much, ie age. At the time of his death,
he was 20 years old.
So, with research, it sadly was found that Trooper Evans served
with the Royal Horse Guards, was billeted local at Windsor, had committed suicide
by drowning himself in the River Thames.
Prior to the release of the 1921 Census, all was a little
difficult, to find who Evans was. So, who were Evans’s parents? What follows is the 1921 Census.
