William Lamont

William was the son of John and Margaret Lamont.  He was born 1864.  The first record of William and his family is the 1871 Scotland Census, followed with the 1891 and 1901 Scotland Censuses.

1918, aged 53, William died.  The Cambrian Daily Leader, 8th April 1918 published an article relating to his death

Elizabeth Lamont

Before her marriage to William during 1887, Elizabeth was born Elizabeth McNeil, 1866.  Elizabeth was the daughter of George and Mary McNeil.  The earlies record, of her is the 1871 Scotland Census.  This followed by the 1881, 1891 and 1901 Scotland Censuses.

After her husband’s death, 1918, Elizabeth travelled to Quebec, Canada, sailing on S.S. Montcalm, departing the Port of Liverpool 18th April 1925.

1939, Elizabeth now back living in Swansea, and her address is 41 Coedseason Crescent, Sketty.  She is listed on the 1939 England and Wales Register and her occupation is Unpaid Domestic Duties.

Elizabeth Lamont

Elizabeth was married twice, the first time during 1912, the marriage took place in Swansea, marrying Thomas E. Jones.   The following year, 1913, the birth of their son, Donald Edgar Jones

SS Empress of Britain
Thomas and Elizabeth emigrated to Canada 1914, departing Liverpool on board the SS Empress of Britain and arriving at Halifax May 1914.

Swansea born Thomas Edgar Jones at the time of enlistment his residence was Kawatin, Ontario. Thomas enlisted as Private with Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment), 43rd Battalion.  Thomas is buried at Regina Trench Cemetery, having been killed in action on the 8th October 1916.

Now a widow, Elizabeth is recorded on the 1921 Canadian Census, residing at Stonewell, Manitoba

SS Montrose
1923, Elizabeth remarried to Harry Leonard Benallick, travels back to the UK, travelling on the Canadian Pacific Line on board the SS Montrose, arriving at Liverpool on 29th December.  Two yeas later, Elizabeth is travelling with her mother back to Canada.

1935, Elizabeth is mentioned on her son’s marriage certificate, Donald Edgar has taken his stepfather’s surname Benallick.  He has married Leta Georgina Curry.

The Scroll of Fame article published in the 16th November 1918, The Cambria Daily Leader informs the reader that Stephen Lamont’s family were told his death occurred on the 11th November, Armistice Day.  The article also informs readers of the death of Private Adley, who was killed on the 6th November.

1926, Margaret travelled back to the UK, with the Canadian Shipping Line on board the SS Montrose

Charles Lamont

1925, Charles also travelled on the SS Montcalm.

1939, Charles now back living in Swansea, and his address is 41 Coedseason Crescent, Sketty.  He is listed on the 1939 England and Wales Register and his occupation is Bus Mechanic.

1983, Charles dies aged 80
