Early Life
Ebenezer Evans was born in 1897 in Swansea, the son of
Ebenezer Evans and Sarah Thomas.

By 1901, the Evans family were living at 29 Plough Street, Llangefelach, Swansea. Ebenezer Evans (aged 37) worked as a Doubler at the tinplate mills, while his wife Sarah (aged 36) ran a greengrocer’s shop. Their children at this time were Catherine (15), Elizabeth (13), Daniel (11), Robert (9), David John (7), and Ebenezer (4).

By the 1911 Census, the family had moved to 11 Clayton Street, Landore. Ebenezer, then 48, continued to work as a Doubler. Sarah is not recorded in this census. The children listed were Catherine Ann (25) and Daniel (21), both employed as Behinders; Robert (19), working as a labourer; David John (17), working as a warehouseman; and Ebenezer (14), then a junior clerk.
Marriage
In August 1925, Ebenezer married Mary Thomas
at St Mary’s Church.

By 1939, the family were residing at 78 Llangefelach Street. Ebenezer was employed in Electrical Communications & Signalling Systems (Collector). Mary was managing an off‑licence, and their son Clive H. was still at school.
