Another casualty of the Devonshire Regiment, 2nd Battalion, was Brinley Davies. Though little personal information survives, records confirm that he was born in Swansea, and served with the battalion during the Battle of the Somme.

Private Davies was killed in action on 1 July 1916, the same day as many of his comrades in the 2nd Devons who fell near Ovillers‑la‑Boisselle. His name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, among the thousands of soldiers who have no known grave.
