Another casualty of the Devonshire Regiment, 2nd Battalion, was George Davies. He was the son of William and Mary Eliza Davies, of 1 Port Tennant Court, Port Tennant, Swansea.

Private Davies served with the battalion during the Battle of the Somme and was killed in action on 1 July 1916, when the 2nd Devons suffered heavy losses near Ovillers‑la‑Boisselle. His name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, among the thousands of soldiers who have no known grave.
