Swansea Pillarbox - Carron Company
Carron Company, Stirlingshire. Most pillar boxes around the country, will
have this wording appearing at the base.
1759, on the banks of River Carron, Falkirk, Stirlingshire
the Carron Company was established. The
company having prospered and through its development were able to produce a new
short-range and short-barrelled naval cannon.
Throughout the 19th century, the company was one of the
largest ironworks in Europe. 1982, the
company became insolvent and was taken over by the Frankie Corporation and rebranded
Carron Phoenix.
