The Norwegian section of the Danygraig Cemetery, there are
not many burials notable they are of Norwegian that have lost their lives during
the Second World War.
The Norwegian footballer Sigurd Wathne who lost his life at
Swansea Hospital, 26th March 1941.

This blog is about Hans Johansen.
Hans Johansen is the only Norwegian who is buried under a
Norwegian war grave. His inscriptions reads

Hans who served as Sailor/Donkeyman on board the Norwegian ship
DS Edle lost his life due to a car accident in Swansea. Hans’s hometown in Norway, was Sandar
DS Edle log sheet for 1942, shows that the ship arrived into Swansea from Falmouth, on the 9th December 1941, then departing on the 30th December 1941, passing Mumbles Head on the 30th January and finally arriving at Poole on the 2nd February.
Could Hans have succumbed to his injuries from the car accident?
