William Ernest Fuller
William Ernest Fuller, the last of the military burials at St. Pauls, died in January 1945, aged 19.

Born in 1926, there is little information recording William, no 1921 Census, or 1939 Register. William was the only son of Ernest and Elizabeth Fuller.  Ernest G., born in 1881 in Somerset, and his wife Elizabeth nee. Webb was born in 1888 in Rajputana, India.

At the time of the 1921 Census, they lived at 55 Gwydr Cresent.  Ernest’s occupation is listed as C.Q.M.S. Defence Forces.  They had an older daughter, Stella born in 1920.

The only information regarding his death is several articles published in the South Wales Daily Post.

William who served with 15 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, was a victim in a flying accident on 15th January.

A training mission from RAF Mildenhall, Norfolk, Willam was part of a crew that flew an Avero Lancaster Mk I, on a bombing exercise.  Taking off at 16.03, the plane crashed at 21.30 at Harling 8 miles east from Thetford, Norfolk.  All 7 crew members were killed.

Australian Pilot, John Henry Crone, 21; Sergeant Richard Devlin, 31; Sergeant George Russell Lake, 31; Australian Wireless Operator Lex Maitland Riordan and Air Bomber Leonard Richard Wilkins, 22 are buried at Cambridge City Cemetery.

Air Gunner Harry Harold Freeman, 20 is buried in Marlow Road Jewish Cemetery, East Ham.

William’s body was brought home to be buried at St. Pauls.
