Francis Jack Hind was born in 1910 at Swansea.
He was the son of William Hind and Lucy Alice Strawbridge,

At the time of the 1911 Census, the Hind family were residing at 162 Oxford Street, Swansea. William Hind (32), born in Cumberland, was employed as a police constable, while his wife Lucy Alice (31) undertook household duties. Their only child was Francis Jack, aged five months.

By the time of the 1921 Census, the family were still living at 162 Oxford Street, Swansea. William Hind (42) was then employed as a platelayer with the Swansea Harbour Trust, while Lucy Alice (42) managed the household. Their children were Francis Jack (10); Frank Gilbert (8); Jessie Manley (6), all attending school; and Dorothy Lucy, aged three months.

Military Service
Francis Jack Hind served in the Royal Engineers,
attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He was posted to 756 Field
Company, a unit responsible for vital engineering tasks including construction,
road and bridge building, demolition, and battlefield support during the Second
World War.
Death and Burial
Lance Corporal Francis Jack Hind died on 25th
November 1944 while serving with the Royal Engineers.
