There is very limited surviving information relating
to Warnock William Hunt, whose name is commemorated on the Mumbles
War Memorial. Notably, he does not appear in the records of the
Commonwealth War Graves Commission, indicating that his death occurred
under circumstances not normally covered by CWGC commemoration.

The only known official documentation for Warnock William Hunt is found in the Merchant Seamen Deaths register. This record states that Warnock William Hunt, of 52 Woodville Road, Mumbles, was born in 1924.
Merchant Navy Service
Warnock served in the Merchant Navy as an Efficient
Deck Hand, and at the time of his death was serving aboard the S.S. Empire
Harmony.
Death and Burial
According to the Merchant Seamen Deaths record, Warnock
William Hunt died on 13th November 1944 from enteric fever
while at Naples. His place of burial is also recorded as Naples.
Local Remembrance
Although not commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves
Commission, Warnock William Hunt’s inclusion on the Mumbles War Memorial
reflects the recognition by his local community of his wartime service and his
death while employed in a vital civilian role during the Second World War.
