When war was declared in July 1939, local authorities across the country worked hard to prepare for the possibility of air raids and civilian casualties. As part of this, records were kept of civilian deaths due to war operations. These consist of printed forms that could be bound together in a register when completed.
The register maintained at the West Glamorgan Archive
Service documents the names of 390 civilians who perished in Swansea.
