John Meredith Roberts was born in 1921 at Swansea.
He was the son of John Meredith Roberts and Eveline Jane Slocombe.

Final Operation and Death

During this operation, Pilot Officer John Meredith
Roberts was the pilot of a Halifax III that was intercepted by a
German night fighter near Freialdenhoven, approximately six miles
south-east of Geilenkirchen. The aircraft was shot down, and while four
members of the crew survived and were taken prisoner of war, Pilot
Officer Roberts was killed in the loss of his aircraft. His death occurred
during a period of particularly high operational intensity and risk for Bomber
Command crews in the weeks leading up to D-Day.
