Leopold Delfosse
Leopold Delfosse, descended from Belgian ancestry. Born in 1897, Leopold was the son of Simon Delfosse and Margaret Harris, who were married in 1880.
According to the 1901 Census, the Delfosse family resided at
5 Bevans Row in St. Thomas.

Simon, who is 63 years old, was employed as a Spelter Worker. Margaret is 46 years old. Their children are:
Mary James, aged 23, married daughter, and her husband, Fred
James, aged 25, who worked as a Spelter Worker. Julien, aged 19, employed as a
Dock Labourer; Roselien, aged 14; Harry, aged 10; Ellen, aged 6; and Leopold,
aged 5.
A decade later, at the time of the 1911 Census, the family had
moved to 97 Vale of Neath Road, Port Tennant

Simon, aged 74, receives Parish Pay. Margaret is aged 56 years. Their children are:
Harry, 22, who is employed as a Spelter Labourer at the Docks;
Ellen, 18, who assists at the Home; Leopold, 14, is employed as a Labourer at
the Tin Works.
Also present are two visitors, George Cole, 31, and William
Jones, 29, who are both employed as Labourers at the Pubbe Works.
Simon died in 1913 and is buried at Danygraig Cemetery. Margaret
died over 20 years later.

Leopold, of the 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment, succumbed to his injuries on 24th September 1916 and is interred at Flatiron Copse Cemetery, Mametz.
