SWANSEA HERO

 SWANSEA HERO

South Wales Daily Post
The South Wales Daily Post’s July 1926 report hailed a Swansea seaman for outstanding bravery. Mr. T. L. Cloudsdale, of the trawler Tenby Castle, was to receive the Silver Medal of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for his gallant conduct off the Galway coast earlier that year. The honour, the paper noted, would be presented at the Guildhall on Thursday at 3 p.m., during a lifeboat meeting presided over by the Mayor.

The Post praised Swansea’s lifeboat organisation for its steadfast humanitarian work — launching boats, training crews, investigating rescues, and ensuring that acts of courage are properly recognised. It reminded readers that such noble service depends upon public support, urging ladies of the town to volunteer as collectors on forthcoming Lifeboat Days, helping secure the funds that keep this vital institution afloat.
