Samuel David Harris – Welsh Regiment, 15th Battalion
Private Samuel David Harris – Welsh Regiment, 15th Battalion
Samuel David Harris was born in 1915 in Swansea, the son of William Austin Harris and Nellie Harris. Although Samuel does not appear in either the 1921 Census or the 1939 Register, his military service is clearly recorded. During the Second World War, he served as a Private with the Welsh Regiment, 15th Battalion, one of the units raised during the conflict to support Britain’s wartime infantry requirements. Samuel lost his life on 10 October 1942, and his body was brought home to Swansea for burial at Oystermouth Cemetery, Mumbles, where he rests among many other local servicemen who died during the war.Samuel David Harris
