Early Life and Family Background

Taliesyn Davies was born in 1920 in Swansea, the only child of Herbert Augustus Davies and Myfanwy Davies.

1921 Census

The 1921 Census records the family living at 21 Trafalgar Place, Brynmill, where Herbert Augustus, aged 32, born in Mumbles, was employed as a Joiner by Henry Billings & Sons, Builders and Contractors. His wife Myfanwy, aged 31, born in Port Talbot, managed the home while caring for their young son, Taliesyn, then one year old.

Service with the Royal Air Force

As a young man, Taliesyn enlisted in the Royal Air Force, where he served with the rank of Aircraftman 1st Class. Although surviving records provide limited detail about his specific duties, men of this rank were often engaged in essential ground‑based roles—technical, mechanical, or logistical—supporting the wider operational needs of the RAF during the war.

Death and Burial – 8 March 1943

Taliesyn Davies died on 8 March 1943, during the course of his wartime service. His body was brought home to Swansea, where he was laid to rest at Oystermouth Cemetery, joining the many local servicemen who lost their lives during the Second World War.
