Bethel Welsh Congregational Chapel

 There are only two military graves in Swansea that there two people buried in the same.

One being in Danygraig Cemetery.  The grave of the father and son, and the other being in Bethel Welsh Congregational Chapel burial ground, Sketty.

The two men are Thomas Gunn and William T. Moon.









Private Thomas Gunn, who died 16th June 1921, aged 45.  He served with The King’s Regiment (Liverpool), 23rd Works Battalion.  He was the son of Silvester and Mary Ellen Gunn.

Thomas was born 1880, Kilsby, Northamptonshire at the time of the 1881 Census, Thomas was residing at his parent’s house, 77 Cross Roads, Kilsby.

Silvester, 30 is employed as a Railway Labourer; Mary Ann, 29.  There are two older siblings Henry, 9 and albert, 6.

Silvester married Mary Ann Endall during 1873, at Radway, Warwickshire.

Mary Ann died 1886, aged 36 at Oxfordshire and Silvester died 1909, aged 74.

By the time of the 1911 Census, Thomas, 28, Labourer is a boarder at 16 Michna Street, Aberavon, the home of Elias Burbridge.

Serjeant William Thomas Moon, who died 16th November 1921, aged 45.  Served with the Royal Garrison Artillery.

Sadly, at the time of his death, he was a patient at the Glamorgan County Asylum, Bridgend, and he was patient at the time of the 1921 Census
