Bostock family memorials - Penmaen church
Three memorials commemorating the Bostock family are situated inside St. John the Baptist church. The first one is in memory of Richard Ashton Bostock. There has been a blog previously written.
Also commemorated is David John Kneath, who was killed in
Action on the 3rd of August 1918.
The tablet is erected by the parishioners of Penmaen.
David was born in 1895, the son of Robert Kneath and Maria Jones. They were married in 1894.

By the 1901 Census, the family was living in Penmaen village. Robert, 31, was employed as a Mason, Maria,
28. Also present were two children,
David John, 5, who was born at Ferry Side, Carmarthenshire, and Emmily S., 2.
1911 Census |
A decade later at the 1911 Census, the family were living at
Penmaen Cottage. Robert, 42, was
employed as a Domestic Gardener. Maria, 38, and four children, John, 15; Emily,
12; Glyn, 10; and Mary, 8.

A year later, David was employed by the London and North Western Railway at Swansea, resigning by May 1914.

The second Bostock memorial commemorates John Yates Bostock, who died on July 20th, 1885.
Dr. John Yates Bostock the younger brother of Richard.
Born in 1857, they were the sons of Dr. John Ashton Bostock.
By the time of the 1871 Census, John, 14, was a pupil of Rugby. He furthered his education at Pembroke College, Cambridge where he studied Medicine.

By the 1881 Census, John, 24, residing at his family home at 73 Onslow Gardens, Gardens.
John A. Bostock, 65, Deputy Surgeon General. Harriet A., 56. Two children John G., BA Cambridge, and Elizabeth A., 22. Also present are six servants, William Brown, 43; William H. Honiger, 18; Caroline Walker, 41; Anna Westmorland, 24; Mary A. Lawrence, 39 and Alethan Betts, 16.

Ashton is the son of Richard Ashton Bostock. Born in 1898 at Godstone, Surrey. By the time of the 1901 Census, is residing
at Penmaen.

Whilst playing polo, Ashton was killed, and he was buried in
Bangalore, India.
