Charles Henry Lobb

  Charles Henry Lobb was born 1889 in Swansea.  He was the son of James Henry Lobb and Elizabeth Maninwaring.

At the time of the 1891 Census, the Lobb family were residing at 126 Vincent Street.

1891 Census

James Lobb, 31, was employed as a Masons Labourer, and wife Eliza A. was 29 years old.  Their children present at home were

William, 12; Elizabeth, 8, both of whom attended school.  Also, Sarah, 4, and 1-year old Charles.

A decade later at the 1901 census the Lobb family had moved from 126 Vincent Street to no.53.

1901 Census

James, 43, was employed as Furnaceman Scaffold Rigger, whilst wife, Eliza was 41 years old.  Their children were

William, 21, who was employed as a Railway Porter; Elizabeth, 18, was employed as Shop Assistant at a Tobacconist.  Sarah, 15; Charles, 11, and 6-month-old Frederick.

Charles at the time of 1911 Census, was 21 years and.  The family were living 59 Vincent Street.

1911 Census

James, 51, who was employed as a Scaffold Rigger, whilst Eliza was 49 years old.

William, 29 was employed as a Lamplighter; Sarah, 25, was employed as a Fancy Ironer.  Charles, 21, was employed as a Farmer Conductor.  10-year-old Frederick attended school.

Charles was ranked as a Gunner and he served with the Royal Field Artillery, when he died on 2nd March 1916 and is buried at Dangraig Cemetery.  There isn't a military headstone
