Christmas Day, 1897, William Bromfield married Margaret Ellen Lloyd at St. John-juxa-Swansea.

Born in 1875, William was the son of Thomas Blomfield, and Louisa Francis, they were married 1874, at St. James church.

At the time of the 1881 Census, the Blomfield family were living at 10 Keniston Place.

1881 Census

Thomas, 30, who was a Blacksmith and Louisa, 25.  Their children were

William, 6; Thomas, 4 and 9-month-old Elizabeth A.

By the time of the 1891 Census, the family has grown, and they are now living at 5 Rutland Place.

Thomas, who is 40 years and Louisa who is 35 years.  Their children present are

William, 16, who was a Blacksmith Striker; Thomas H., 14, who was a Smith’s Labourer. Elizabeth, 10; Alice M., 8; Adelaide, 6; Frances, 4 and 1-year old Ethel.

Also present at the property on the night of the census were boarder Thomas Pugsley, 27, a Boilermaker, and his wife, Catherine, 20, and their 9-month-old son, Thomas.

The 1901 Census, William now married is living at 20 Swan Street.

William, 26, was employed as a Engine Fitter.  Margaret was 25 years old.  Their two children were Frances, 2 and 3-month-old William.

A decade later at the time of the 1911 Census the Blomfield family has grown, and they are still living at 20 Swan Street.

1911 Census

William, 36, is still a Engine Fitter, Mary is 35 years old.  Their children present were

Florrie, 12; William, 10; Clifford, 8; Bryn, 7 and 4-year-old George.

At the time of the outbreak of the First World War, William was ranked a Serjeant and served with the 1/6th Battalion, Welsh Regiment.

William died on the 14th of October 1914 and was buried at Danygraig Cemetery following a military funeral
