Early Life
Christopher Stanley Jones was born in 1915 at Swansea, the son of Christopher Jones and Mabel Essenhigh, who had married in 1910 at Swansea. His childhood unfolded within a working‑class household rooted in the industrial districts of the town.

At the time of the 1921 Census, the Jones family were living at 21 Matthew Street, Swansea. Christopher Jones, aged 29, was employed as a Checkweighman by Polwesland & Mason, Contractors, while his wife Mabel, aged 30, undertook the household duties. Their children present were William S. (7) and (Christopher) Stanley (6), both attending school, along with Lily May (1). Also residing in the household were Mabel’s widowed father, William Edward Essenhigh, aged 65, a Labourer employed at the Prince of Wales Dry Dock, and her brother Richard Henry Essenhigh, aged 22.
