John Bradley David was born in 1904, at Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. Very few records survive that shed light on his early life, but he is known to have later settled in the Gorseinon area, where he married Doris M. David, of Garden Village, Gorseinon.

John served during the Second World War as a Private in the Welch Regiment, continuing the long tradition of West Wales men who joined the regiment across generations.

He died on 18 June 1947, in the immediate post‑war years, and his body was brought home to be laid to rest at Kingsbridge Cemetery. His grave marks the last military burial connected to the Second World War within the cemetery, closing its wartime roll with his name.
