The life and service of Staff Serjeant Leslie Cook, of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, is known today only through a single surviving source: a newspaper report published in the South Wales Daily Post following his death on 9 May 1941. No census entries, service papers, or family details have yet been traced, and the newspaper notice remains the sole contemporary record of his passing.

What is certain is that Leslie Cook died while serving in Swansea during the Second World War, and that his death was significant enough to be reported in the local press at a time when the town was still reeling from the aftermath of the Three Nights Blitz.
