Family Life (1939 Register)

By 1939, the Lowe family were living at Brynderi School Road, Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire. Charles was employed as a Steelworks Electrician, while Margaret and Marjorie both undertook household duties. Also present was Dorothy Lowe, recorded as incapacitated. The household included two additional residents: Joseph Young, a Steelworks Electrician, and Colwyn Walkers, a Clerk – Steel & Tinplate Works, reflecting the shared‑housing patterns common in industrial communities.

Military Service

Marjorie served as an Aircraftwoman 1st Class with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF), one of the principal women’s branches supporting Royal Air Force operations during the Second World War. WAAF personnel undertook vital duties including communications, radar plotting, meteorology, aircraft maintenance support, and intelligence work.
