Early Life

William Davies Jenkins was born in 1906 in Swansea. Very few surviving records shed light on his early years, and he appears only briefly in official documentation before the outbreak of the Second World War.

Military Service – Welch Regiment

William enlisted as a Private in the Welch Regiment, 15th Battalion, a wartime unit raised for home defence and training duties during the later stages of the conflict. Men of the battalion were stationed across Britain, supporting operational requirements and reinforcing other Welsh units as needed.

Death and Burial, February 1943

William died at Weymouth, Dorset, on 25 February 1943, during a period when many home‑based soldiers continued to face illness, accidents, and the pressures of wartime service. His body was brought home to Swansea and laid to rest at St. Samlet Churchyard, Llansamlet, where his grave stands among the parish’s Second World War burials.
