 Corporal Christopher George Phillips had served with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, for four years, and had taken part in the North African and Italian campaigns.  Due to this, Christopher became ill, and he transferred to a military hospital.  Christopher died on the 14th of July 1945, aged 43 years.  Chrisopher is buried at Danygraig Cemetery.

Christopher was the son of David Phillips and Margaret Elizabeth Jackson, who were married in 1863.

The Phillips family at the time of the 1911 Census, lived at 39 Swan Street.

General Labourer, David who was 47 years, Margaret was 43 years.  Their children were

David Henry, 22, was employed as a Tin Worker.  Sydney, 19.  Christopher George, 8, and 5-year-old Thomas John, both of whom attended school.

The family were still lived at 39 Swan Street at the time of the 1921 Census.

David, 58, who was a Fitter’s Labourer employed by J. D. Brown, but at this time was out of work. Margaret, 53, who undertook the household duties.

Their children were David H., 32, who widowered.  He was a Labourer General, employed Mills & English Dyers, who was out of work.  Christopher G., 19, who was a Copper Worker, employed by William Foster, Landor.  Christopher was also out of work.  Thomas J., 15, was a Dray Boy, employed by William Hancock.

Also present was David J., 3, who was grandson, of David.

October 1934, Christopher married Ellen May Criddle, at St. Thomas church.

By the time of the 1939 Register, Christopher and Ellen lived at 151 Danygraig Road.
