Frederick George Davies

 Serjeant Frederick George Davies, who served with the Manchester Regiment, died on 26th August 1944 and was buried at Danygraig Cemetery.

Frederick was born in 1878.

Records show that Frederick was a veteran of the First World War.

The first census that Frederick was recorded on was the 1901 Census, when he was recorded as George, not Frederick.  Frederick served with the Royal Navy as a Stoker on board the Niobe, which is based at Gibraltar.

In 1903, Frederick married Jane Yams at St. Pauls church, Llangyfelach.

The 1911 Census doesn’t seem to have survived, so the next record would be 1921.

1921 Census

The Davies family are living at 122 Dinas Street, Plasmarl.

Frederick, 43 years is employed as a Steelworker, at Baldwin Steel Manufacturers, Landore.  Mary is also 43 years old.

Their children are William Jess, 15, who is an Apprentice Electrician, also working at Baldwin Steel Manufacturers, Landore. Rosy Edna May, 13, and 8-year-old Millicent, who are both attend school.

Frederick and May at the time of the 1939 Register are living at 9 Trwyddfa Common, North Road.
