George Victor Hammond

 Every military personal who lost their lives during war were always commemorated regardless of how they died.

Private George Victor Hammond, who served with the Royal Army Service Corps, died on the 5th of March 1941, aged 25 years.

Born 1915, son of Thomas John Hammond and Mary Ann Munslow.  They were married July 1906, St. Gabriel church.

At the time of the 1921 Census, George is recorded on the census Victor George.  The Hammond family were residing at 62 King Edwards Road.

Thomas John, 41, was a Confectioner whilst, Mary was 46 years.

Their children were Leslie Charles, 8; Victor George, 6 and 3-year-old Eileen Millicent.

Also present was 20-year-old Phyllis Hammond, niece.

By the time of the 1939 Register, George V., is recorded as a Confectioner & Sugar Manufacturer was living at his parents’ home, 62 Kings Edwards’ Road.

Bradford Observer
George was based at Yorkshire, and an inquest was conducted into George’s death.  The coroner returned the verdict which was published in the Bradford Observer. George was buried at Danygraig Cemetery
