Rose Walters
So, who was Rose Walters?
Born Rosina Elizabeth Keys on 11th November 1891,
was the daughter of George Keys and Caroline Pennry, who were married in 1872.
George died in 1898 and was buried at Danygraig Cemetery.
At the time of the 1901 Census, Caroline, and her family
were living at 15 Clarence Street.

Present at the property on the night of the census were
Caroline, 48, who had her own Milk Business. Caroline's place of birth was Tenby.
William, 20, who was an Engine Fitter Assistant; Emily, 19;
Ethel, 12; Rosie, 8, and 4-year-old Ernest.
Also present at the property were Caroline’s parents, Elizabeth
Penny, 75, who was born in Brixham, Devon, and Thomas, 72, who was a retired
General Labourer, who was born in Tenby, also Caroline’s sister Mary, 38, who
was also born in Tenby. A boarder, Noah
Suell, 20, who was born in London, was also present.
By the 1911 Census, Caroline had moved to 15 Clarence
Street.

Caroline, who was 58 years old, was still a Milk
Seller. Her children present Rose, 18,
who assisted in the business, and Ernest, 14, who was employed as a Boy in the
Gas Works.
Also present in the property, were Polly Penny, 49, who was
Caroline’s sister, and board George Evans, 19 years old, who was a Dock
Labourer.
Caroline died in 1934
In June 1911, Rose, who recorded her name as Rosina, married
James Reese Walters, at St. Marys.
The 1921 Census records the couple as living at 56 William
Street.

28-year-old William, who was a Fruiter, with his own market stall, Rosina, was 27 years old.
Their children were Glyn Reeves, 7; James Glyn, 5 and 1-year-old
Gordon Reeves.
Rosina died in 1931.
In the 1939 Register, James was living at 28 Mount Pleasant,
and was fruiter of his own account, also present were his children.
