Not all the military burials at Danygraig Cemetery, will be commemorated with a military headstone.  This was often the choice of the family.  This was the case of William Henry Johnson.

Private William Henry Johnson, served with the Royal Army Service Corps attached with the Royal Artillery, who died on the 20th of July 1941, aged 23.

William was the son of William James Johnson and Florence A. Coe, who was married in 1915.

At the time of the 1921 Census, the Johnson family were living at 58 Port Tennant Road.

William James was 37 years old, and he was employed as a Boiler Furnaceman at Kings Dock.  Florence was 28 years.

Their two young children were Annie May, 5 and 1-year old William Henry.

Also present at the property was Annie Coe, aged 70, mother of Florence.

William lost his live, when he was fatally injured in an accident in Surrey, his death being reported in the South Wales Daily Post
