William John Quinn
At the turn of 1900, William was born that January, he was
the son of James Quinn and Mary Boat, who were married in 1885
William was 1 years old at the time of the 1901 Census.

The Quinn family were living at 3 William Place.
James, 36, was a Coach. Mary, 35. Their children were
Thomas, 16; Annie, 13; Maggie, 9; Peter, 5; James, 3 and
1-year old William.
The family had moved to 17 Anne Street by the time of the
1911 Census.

James, 45, was a Shipper, Mary, 44. Their children are
Maggie, 19, Assisting.
Peter, 15, Labourer; James, 13, School/Errand Boy; William, 11, who attended
school; Mary, 8 and 4-year-old Christopher.
William during the First World War, served with the Royal
Navy, enlisting in January 1918.

The family were still living at 17 Ann Street by the time of the 1921 Census
James, 57, a Fuel Shipper, employed by Sun Fuel Co., but was
out of work, Mary, 55. Heir children
present at the property were
William, 21, a Beltman Fuels Work, employed by Sun Fuel Co.,
but was out of work; Mary, 18, Pickling Cwmflein Tinplate Works, employed by
Cwmflein Steel & Tinplate but was out of work and Christopher aged 14. Also present was 12-year-old Margaret who was
granddaughter.

The following year, William married Beatrice A. Thomas.
By the time of 1939 Register, William and Beatrice lived at
37 Wallace Street, with their sons Joseph and James. William’s occupation was recorded as Dock
Transport Worker – Heavy Worker.

William is buried at Danygraig Cemetery.
