18-year-old Arthur George Davies died at Woolwich on the 19th of June 1917 and was buried at Danygraig Cemetery.

Born in 1900, Arthur was the youngest son of John Davies and Harriet Jones who were married at St. James church in October 1891.

At the time of the 1901 Census, the Davies' family home was 25 Park Street.

1901 Census

John, 35, was employed as a Corn Carter.  Harriet was 31 years old.  Their children were

Albert, 8; William, 6; Alfred, 5; Ernie, 3; and 1-year-old Arthur.

A decade later, at the time of the 1911 Census, the family had moved to 10 Princess Street.

John, 45, was employed as a Grocers Haulier.  Harriet was 41 years old.  Their children were present were

Albert John, 18, who was employed as Laundry Porter; William Thomas, 16, who was a Clerk; Alfred, 15, who was an Errand Boy; Annie May, 13; Arthur George, 11, who both attended school; Henry Ernest, 9; Margaret Evelyn, 7; Harriet Winifred, 4; Leslie Jones, 3; and 1-year-old Edith Grace.

The couple also listed their two children who had previously died, Ivor and Sidney.

Arthur served with the Army Service Corps.
