The second service man who lost his life on the 30th of January 1918, was Frederick Jenkins, and is buried at Danygraig Cemetery.

Frederick who was named Frederick Watkin Jenkins when he was born in 1885, the son of Frederick Jenkins and Eveline Elizabeth Nicholls.

At the time of the 1891 Census, the Jenkins family were living at 169 Ystrad Road, Ystradyfodwg.

Frederick, 32, employed as a Plumbers Gas Porter and Eveline was 28 years old.  Their children were

Frederick Watkin, 6; Evelin, 3, and 10-month-old Esther.

Also present at the property was 40-year-old boarder Joseph Peters, employed as a General Labourer.

By the time of the 1901 Census, Frederick, had enlisted with the Royal Navy and was serving on board H.M.S. Impregnable.

In 1910 Frederick married Rose Adelina Barrett at St. James church.

The following year at the time of the 1911 Census, Frederick and Rose were living at 157 Port Tennnant Road.

Frederick was 26 years old, and his occupation was recorded as a Wirewman (Army Pensioner), whilst Rose was 19 years old.

Frederick served with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers during the First World War and died on the 30th of January 1918.
