William Henry Hayward
William Henry Hayward was born in 1884, the eldest child of William Hayward and Margaret Conolly.
The 1891 Census records the family as living at 1 Frog Court.

29-year-old William was a Labourer. 27-year-old Margaret, born
in Wolverhampton. Their two children at
the time of the census were
William Henry, 7, who attended school, and 4-year-old
Florence.
A decade later, at the time of the 1901 census, the family
had moved to 1 Clarence Court.

39-year-old William is employed as a Mason. Margaret is 34 years old. The children who are present at the time of
the census are
William, 19, who is employed as a Trimmer Coal Help; Florence,
14; Alfred, 8; James, 5; and 2-year-old Maggie.
In 1906, William married Kathleen Osborne.
Three years later, William was sent to prison and served 14 days'
Hard Labour after having been found guilty of Assault.

William, who enlisted in 1914 as a Reservist and served with the Royal Garrison Artillery, 11th Fife Command. William would see action for nearly four years in France.
William died on the 16th of February 1919, from nephritis
& uraemia. William was buried at
Danygraig Cemetery without any military honours.
