On March 11th, 1919, Stanley Williams, who served with the Royal Fusiliers, 43rd Battalion, died. He was buried at Danygraig Cemetery.

Stanley, who was born in 1896, was the youngest son of John Williams and Caroline Johns.  They were married in 1876.  

The Williams at the time of the 1901 Census were living at 3 Short Street.

1901 Census

John, 53, was a Stonemason.  Caroline was 52 years old.  Their children were

Margaret, 30; Thomas, 22; George, 20, who are both Stonemasons; Gladys, 11; Mabel, 8; and 6-year-old Stanley.

John died aged 61 in 1909.

At the time of the 1911 Census, Caroline, now aged 62, had moved to 3 Lee Street.

Her children, who were living at the address, were

Gladys, 20, who was a Dressmaker; Mabel, 17; Stanley, 14.

Also present was a visitor, 72-year-old Millicent Borlace Roberts.

Following Stanley’s death, his funeral was announced in the South Wales Daily Post.  Only gentlemen were to attend.
