21-year-old Richard Arthur Jones, died on the 12th of March 1919.  Richard was buried at Danygraig Cemetery.

Born in 1898, Richard, was the youngest child of Arthur Jones and Emma Jones, who were married in 1888 at St. John-juxta-Swansea.

At the time of the 1901 Census the Jones family was living at 97 Fleet Street.

Arthur, 38, was employed as a Stonemason.  Emma was 37 years old.  Their children were

Hannah, 10; Frances, 9; Maria, 8; Richard A., 3.

34-year-old Richard Jones, Arthur’s brother was also living at the property, and he was also a Stonemason.

The family moved to no.9 Fleet Street, by the time of the 1911 Census.

Arthur, 48, who was still a Stonemason.  Emma was 47 years old.  Their children were

Hannah, 20; Frances, 19, both of whom were Laundress; Maria, 17; Richard Arthur, 14, who was an Apprentice Mason; David Thomas, 9, and 5-year-old Stanley John, who both attended school.

Richard enlisted and served with the Royal Field Artillery, 265th Brigade.

The family headstone inscription states that Richard saw action in France, 1915; Egypt, 1916-17, and Palestine, 1917-18.  Returning home, only to die during March 1919.
