Michael Merrigan, served with the Royal Army Medical Corps, aged 40, he died on the 22^nd of November 1919, and was buried at Danygraig Cemetery.

The only two censuses that are available referring to Michael are the 1881 and 1891 ones.

The Merrigan family was living at 9 Brook Street at the time of the 1881 census

1881 Census

Thomas, 34, was employed as a Dock Labourer, and his wife Mary was 30.  Their three children were

John, 8; Michael, 5; and 3-year-old Patrick, who all attended school.  All the family was born in Ireland.

Michael, now aged 15 at the time of the 1891 census, was living at 10 Pontyfaredare Street.

1891 Census

Thomas, 40, was employed as a Coal Trimmer, and 36-year-old Mary.  Their children were

John, 17; Labourer; Michael, 15; Patrick, 13, Scholar; Mary B., 8; and William aged 3.
